Talk about teaching faith........WOW! Having a baby definitely changes everything and before Carter was born, I didn't think I'd have a problem going back to work. I came back December 1st and have been working part time while taking part time FMLA. My FMLA is almost up and the thought of working full was just breaking my heart. There was no way I could ask my sister in law to watch Carter full time, and work herself. So..... I started job searching. I found a job I was really excited about, really close to home. I applied, got an interview and never heard anything back from them. After a few weeks of waiting, I figured I wasn't going to hear back and applied for 5 more positions. Within 2 days, I had interviews scheduled with all 5. Each time I scheduled an interview, I would get a sick feeling, like the Spirit was telling me that it was not the right decision. I ended up cancelling every interview and had no idea why. Last week I had a discussion with a co-worker about leaving and he asked if I had expressed my desire to be part time to my supervisor. I hadn't because the state does not hire part time, or offer any type of part time work. He encouraged me to at least let them know I was looking elsewhere and see what they could do.
I sent and e-mail to my supervisor expressing my desires and even offering to give up my benefits to stay (we can get them through Jer's work). Now, here I am, a week and a half later and my prayers have been answered. There was a HUGE exception made for me and I will be a part time employee beginning February 21st! I am so excited to be able to stay with the state and keep doing what I love.
I am so grateful that I listed to the Spirit and I have definitely learn that with faith come blessings.
I am also SO grateful for Jer and that he is willing to let me stay home more. Losing half my income is scary, but I know we will be able to make it work.
I am so happy for you! Being part-time is the way to go. Being a mom definitely changes life.
